Examination System

1. Internal Assessment

Internal assessment constitutes an essential part of the evaluation process in the MBA Agribusiness program and typically carries 40% of the total marks in each subject. This form of assessment is conducted continuously throughout the semester by faculty members. It may include various academic activities such as quizzes, assignments, project work, presentations, seminars, mid-semester exams, and viva-voce. The purpose of internal assessment is to promote regular learning, active class participation, and application-based understanding of subjects. Marks are distributed among different activities for instance, 10 marks for quizzes, 40 marks for mid-semester exams, 5–10 marks for assignments and viva-voce. Students must secure at least 40% in internal assessment to be eligible to appear in the end-semester examinations.

2. Final Theory and Practical Examination

The final examination, held at the end of each semester, accounts for 60% of the total marks and includes written theory papers as well as practical or applied components. The theory examinations are typically conducted for each subject and evaluate students’ conceptual understanding, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills in areas like agri-marketing, finance, supply chain management, and rural development. Courses with practical components such as project work, industry visits, or field assignments include practical exams and viva-voce, assessed jointly by internal and external faculty. Students must obtain a minimum of 40% in the final examination separately in both theory and practical, and also meet the combined pass criteria.

3. Attendance Requirement

Attendance is strictly monitored in the MBA Agribusiness Management program to maintain academic discipline and ensure active student engagement. A minimum of 75% attendance in each course, including theory classes, practical sessions, seminars, and group discussions, is mandatory. Students falling short of this requirement are generally not allowed to appear for final examinations unless a valid reason is approved by the university. Some institutions also include attendance as a component in internal evaluation. Consistent attendance is vital for understanding course material, participating in collaborative learning, and successfully completing team-based projects.

4. Grading System

Most universities offering MBA in Agribusiness Management follow a 10-point Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) system for evaluating academic performance.
